KNOWING YOUR WORTH
You matter and you are important! No one else is quite like you, you have a unique personality and unique abilities. Your life makes a difference and if no one else has told you this today, I am happy to be the first to say it. The reason that I am writing this today is because knowing and accepting my own self-worth is a very real struggle for me. Due to issues in my past I find this to be a constant struggle, but because of this struggle I have learned many valuable lessons. It makes me stronger and more aware of how others feel and far more sensitive as a result. I know that I am not alone in this and I know that this is extremely important in life and can actually have a powerful impact on your professional and financial life as a result. Knowing your worth and presenting yourself this way is very challenging for many of us. Why is it so hard? Usually it is a result of low self esteem and can be very hard to overcome when this is the reason.
What can I do if I struggle with this?
Separate yourself from your feelings and take a step back, look at the reality of the situation and evaluate it without all the emotions attached. Far easier said than done I know, but this has been very important in my life. Your feelings can lie to you and you need to honestly evaluate who you really are and what you bring to the table. Once you do this I encourage you to make a list of the things that you are good at and things that make you special. If you find this hard ask a trusted friend or family member to help you create this list and keep this close by if you ever need a reminder. Remember that you matter and that there is no one else exactly like you. You are unique with unique abilities shaped by life experiences and by your own unique personality.
Why is knowing your worth important?
If you go into a job interview with the right attitude and appearance you will do far better in the interview. I can not say that you will always land the job but presenting yourself well will give you a far better chance at landing the job. Knowing your worth and showing it can make you more attractive to perspective employers, customers or even in relationships. If you enter a relationship or a job with the opposite attitude, it is far easier to be taken advantage of this way. If you respect yourself and present this to others this can be reflected in both your personal and professional life.
Key things to remember
You do not have to be perfect you are human.
Accept yourself for who you really are.
Write down your strengths and weaknesses- work on improving both.
Others opinions of you do not have to matter you can decide who's opinion of you is most important.
Treat others with respect and be the kind of person people trust.
The value you see in others and the way you treat them, is a reflection of who you are, so work on how you treat those around you.
Keep in mind that the way others treat you, is not a reflection of who you are but a reflection of who they are instead.
I hope that you find value in what I have shared today and I hope it really gave you something to consider and maybe work on in your own life.
