WHERE CAN I FIND FREE OR DISCOUNTED FORMULA?
Are you wondering how to get free or discounted formula to help stretch your budget? If so read on below as I share the many ways I have learned to do this since my daughter was born. This post may contain affiliate links which means that at no cost to you I may earn a commission on products purchased using these links.
Best places to get free or discounted formula
Enfamil & Similac websites - This is just one of the great places to start to get free or discounted formula. Enfamil and Similac offer great discounts and often send packages of formula samples to new mothers. I personal have received these packages which for me contained checks to redeem for money off as well as small canisters of formula. You can sign up here for Enfamil coupons or Similac coupons.
Your child's pediatrician - pediatrician offices often receive formula samples and samples of other great baby products. I know this partially because I worked many years as a medical assistant for a pediatric office. I also have been blessed that since my daughter was born I have received these samples myself. I have been informed by the office on multiple occasions that if you ask they are always happy to share these if they have them available. Even if they may not have formula samples they also tend to receive rebates for Enfamil or Similac or Enfamil coupons / Similac coupons for money off. Just another great way to discover how to get free or discounted formula.
The Hospital - Before you leave the hospital ask your nursing staff if they have formula samples available. My experience was that they as the pediatrician offices often have these on hand to provide. I was given multiple boxes of pre-made formula to take home just in case we should need it. It can never hurt to ask because the majority of the time people are happy to help if you do ask. This is just another great place to get free or discounted formula for your baby.
Getting the best prices on formula - my other favorite places to find great deals on formula would be Amazon, Target, Walmart, Kroger and Meijer. Costco , Sam's club and BJ's wholesale often have great discounts on formula purchased through them as well. At my local Costco the larger size powdered formula in their generic brand is under $15. Upon reviewing the ingredients list it comes very close if not identical to the basic Similac with iron. Through Amazon you can find some great deals on buying formula in bulk.

Another post I wrote previously details how you can get a free breast pump in case you plan on nursing part time or nursing initially before your child starts on formula.
Another awesome freebie you can sign up for is the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library which can provide your child with a free monthly book. This book is a great quality book that will arrive in the mail monthly until your child enters kindergarten.
I hope that this post provides some tips that you were unaware of that can really help you stretch your budget. Throughout my website I share many ways that I have discovered to help you stay on track with your budget. The ways that I share to do this are most often ways that I have done this with my own family.
The cost of a new baby and raising children
The cost of having a baby can be overwhelming at times. In many ways it will not get easier either because the cost of raising a child is expensive. What you can do to lower the costs and keep on budget is to remember these simple things.
You do not need everything and neither does your child. Learn to say no early on and to make due with what you have already. When something is a necessity you will know and if you make choices like this you will spend less.
There is nothing wrong with used clothing or items for your child. Many people will offer you their used baby items. Trust me when I say a child will barely wear and use a lot of these items anyway. I have taken full advantage of situations where people blessed us with their child's used items. To be completely honest I have never regretted one of these situations. These items have greatly helped us to save money from the time she was born and we have been blessed with far more than we even needed.
Final thoughts
Finally I want to encourage you to give back to others. If you have been blessed with these things with your own child, give back. I encourage you to share with others the many items you have been given. Find another that you can give back to in the future once your child has outgrow these items and help someone else to save joyfully.
