THE PRICE OF FREEDOM

Out of all the things we value in our country today as American's, one of the most important for each of us should be our freedom. Freedom and safety should be a priority for all of us, because without freedom our country would not exist as it does today.

As a country we should take great pride in the men and women who help to keep our country safe everyday. I have never been in the United States Military myself, however both of my grandfathers, my father, father in law, aunt, uncles and my best friend have all served.

This post is just a quick reminder as you head out today to enjoy the festivities related to July 4th, that there is far more to this day than just another holiday. Just remember all of the lives throughout the years that have been forever changed by the selfless acts of service by our military men and women. Remember the pain that we as American's felt on September 11, 2001, as our country came under attack and loved ones were lost.

When time passes and our lives get back to normal, we tend to forget the difficult times just like anything in our life. When the pain is not as fresh, the wounds are not there as a constant reminder to appreciate what we have. So today I ask that we take a moment to reflect and honor those who have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice for our freedom.

Our country and our freedom did not happen overnight and what we enjoy today did not come easily. There were years and years of hard work, selflessness, and many lives lost, chasing this dream we have of freedom and building our great nation. No matter what political affiliation you are we can all take a moment to be grateful and to honor these men and women, that have given years of their lives or even their entire life for us.

So if you are past or present military service members I want to say, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to keep this country I live in safe everyday. Thank you for the freedom that I can enjoy everyday because of your dedication and your service. Have a wonderful Independence Day and May we all celebrate the true meaning of July 4th.

I hope you enjoy the photos I have included below these photos are from my trip yesterday to Hollister, Missouri and my trip last September to Savannah, Ga.
