FRIENDS AND FINANCES FEATURING A THEORY OF CHANGE

a theory of change.jpeg

Welcome back to friends and finances my featured blogger series that introduces you to some amazing bloggers. The biggest reason I decided to start this new series, is because I believe in getting different perspectives on handling your finances. I also believe that the bloggers featured here each week have a lot to offer the world and deserve recognition. Some of the blogs featured will be other personal finance related blogs and others will not be. The reason I chose to include some other blogs that are not related to finance is simple, we all have a financial story no matter who we are. I believe money is not the only focus we should have when traveling our road to financial freedom, and I think discovering some fun blogs that share something different can be a welcomed break from over focusing on money. So today I welcome Sandra from sandraparsons.ca

Sandra has been such a huge support since I began my blog and has both guest posted on my website with her post Two ideas about money that you need to leave behind and also allowed me to guest post on her website Clever ways to save money on your wedding If you do not already follow Sandra on any of her social networks or on her blog you should do so today.

What is the goal of your blog?

www.sandraparsons.ca is a self-improvement blog focused on personal finance. I believe passionately that small behavioral changes are the key to big life changes. So the goal of the blog is to help people establish behaviors that promote financial well-being. It’s a beautiful day to change your life <31. How long have you been blogging? Not long! I started in August 2017.

What has been your biggest money mistake?

Getting a credit card at age 19 without really understanding how they work and proceeding to behave as though it was free money. Cringe.

What is your best advice for recovering from or preventing this money mistake?

Well, first of all, educate yourself about financial products before you start using them with abandon. And always, always, always pay your credit card bill in full by the statement due date.

Favorite quote or money advice and who was the author?

I don’t know who originally said this, but a quote I love that I think applies to financial health and life in general is this: “If you want something you’ve never had before, you need to do something you’ve never done before.” I think it speaks to the importance of being willing to modify your behavior in order to change your life.

Favorite money or budgeting related book and author?

I can’t choose!

Favorite money saving website?

I love a lot of personal finance websites, including SavingJoyfully.com. My all time favorite is probably Clubthrifty.com.

Favorite money making app or website? ( You can give more than one)

You Need a Budget (YNAB) is my favorite budgeting app. I’m obsessed with tracking my spending and YNAB makes it so easy!

Do you have an emergency fund or savings account?

I do. I honestly don’t feel comfortable without one.

9. What is your most successful strategy for saving money?

I think for me it’s primarily about three things: building a budget, tracking my spending, and paying myself first through automated savings.
