THANKFULNESS CHALLENGE 2018 - WEEK TWO

thankfulness challemge 2018.jpeg

This past week has been a real struggle for me and for my entire family. My father suffered multiple strokes overnight Monday and was rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning unresponsive. He became responsive far quicker than we had expected and after the surgery he actually was able to speak which amazed everyone. He is currently recovering and although he still has bouts of confusion and cannot speak as clearly as he would want, he has really come a long way already. In light of the upcoming thanksgiving holiday, I have been working on a challenge with some fellow bloggers to challenge an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving. We are hoping that through this challenge, we can change your perspectives a bit and remind you all to count your blessings. This does not come easy and naturally to any of us, but I do believe the more that we shift our focus towards thanksgiving, the more we will find to be thankful for in our lives.

What I am thankful for this week

  1. Our veteran's past, present and future... Thankful for the men and women who fight to keep our country safe and free. I am proud of our U.S. military and all they do to ensure our safety and I am so proud to be an American.

  2. My father's recovery... He still has a long road ahead of him but he is a fighter and he is already making great progress. Recovering from a stroke is not easy. My  Grandfather (his Dad) suffered multiple strokes when we were very young. Because of witnessing this I am well aware of what goes into a stroke victim's recovery.

  3. A boss that is supportive and understanding.... I am very thankful this week for a boss who is supportive and understanding as I have struggled this past week. She has allowed me to leave work early, checked in to make sure I am doing alright and also approved a last minute day off for my fathers surgery.

  4. Surgeon and hospital staff.... I am very thankful for the wonderful staff who has been there for my father through everything. I am thankful for the wisdom and knowledge of the surgeon who performed his surgery, the other physician's, nurses and other staff who have also been caring for him this past week.

  5. The support of family and friends.... I am so blessed to have family and friend's that are here to support us in all of this. I have felt love and compassion in ways that I never expected this week and I am sincerely grateful for everyone who has reached out.

  6. The right to vote.... I am thankful that we as American's each have the right to vote and to choose who and what to support in each election. Thankful for this freedom and so many others that we only experience today as a result of freedom's won in the past.

  7. Thankful for a husband and best friend who is loving and supportive when I am really feeling overwhelmed. Thankful that he loves me even on my worst days and supports me in all I do.

Thankful also for some amazing bloggers that support me everyday and encourage me even when life has it's challenges. The private messages that I received this past week from fellow bloggers meant so much. Each of your prayers offered up for my father mean more than you can imagine. Thank you to all of my fellow bloggers and readers for your support of what I do everyday. Please check out my first thankfulness challenge post if you would like to join us in this challenge.
